THE TROLLEY PROBLEM
Would you intervene?

"Justice - The Moral Side of Murder?"
Michael Sandel

The first meeting of philosophy club doesn't require any reading or preparation.  Rather, our officers will lead a discussion on a few ethical dillemas, including the Trolley Problem and a story of cannibalism at sea.

The discussion will center on two forms of moral reasons: Consequentialist vs. Deontological perspectives.   Do the ends justify the means?  Is the greatest good for the greatest number a good moral guideline?  Are there any lines that should never be crossed?

For those who miss our discussion or want to learn more on the topic afterward, this lesson from Harvard University will share similar stories and moral debates.
